Overall Overview

Total pollen increased by 40, rising from 76 to 116. The gain was driven primarily by a sharp rise in tree pollen (+36).

Total mold increased by 1,901, led by large increases in Cladosporium and Basidiomycetes, partially offset by a decline in Ascomycetes.

Tree, Grass, and Weed Pollen

Tree pollen increased by 36, driven mainly by:

  • Carya (Hickory/Pecan) +46
  • Quercus (Oak) +6

Offsetting declines included:

  • Fraxinus (Ash) −8
  • Pinaceae (Pine) −8

Grass pollen increased by 2.

Weed pollen rose by 2, with:

  • Other Weed +4
  • Cyperaceae (Sedge) +2
  • Plantago (Plantain) −4

Mold Spores

Total mold increased by 1,901.

Largest increases:

  • Cladosporium +2,130
  • Basidiomycetes +535
  • Smuts/Myxomycete +172
  • Alternaria +114
  • Penicillium/Aspergillus +72
  • Epicoccum +60
  • Dreshslera/Helminthosporium +36
  • Cercospora +33

Largest decrease:

  • Ascomycetes −1,255

Additional smaller declines occurred in Curvularia, Oidium/Erysiphe, Pithomyces, Spegazinia, and Torula.

Key Takeaways

  • Tree pollen was the primary driver of higher total pollen, led by Hickory/Pecan.
  • Grass and weeds showed minor increases relative to trees.
  • Mold levels rose materially, with Cladosporium accounting for most of the increase.
  • The decline in Ascomycetes partially offset broader mold gains.
