Overall Overview

Total pollen decreased from 88 to 70 (-18).
Total mold increased from 4,793 to 6,443 (+1,650).

The rise in airborne load was driven entirely by mold increases, which more than offset the pollen decline.

Tree, Grass, and Weed Pollen

Tree pollen declined from 42 to 34 (-8), with offsetting moves:

  • Quercus (Oak): -22
  • Carya (Hickory/Pecan): +12
  • Fraxinus (Ash): +4
  • Morus (Mulberry): +4
  • Other Tree: -4

Grass pollen decreased from 18 to 16 (-2).

Weed pollen declined from 28 to 20 (-8), driven by:

  • Other Weed: -10
  • Plantago (Plantain): +2

Mold Spores

Total mold increased by 1,650, led by:

  • Ascomycetes: +1,822
  • Basidiomycetes: +639

Additional increases:

  • Cercospora: +54
  • Smuts/Myxomycete: +49
  • Alternaria: +37
  • Epicoccum: +33
  • Dreshslera/Helminthosporium: +20
  • Penicillium/Aspergillus: +20

Largest decline:

  • Cladosporium: -1,020

Smaller declines included Algae (-16), Torula (-6), and Periconia (-4).

Key Takeaways

  • Mold growth drove the overall increase in airborne counts, led by a sharp rise in Ascomycetes.
  • Tree pollen continued to moderate, primarily due to a large drop in Oak.
  • Weed and grass pollen edged lower, with limited contribution to total movement.
  • Cladosporium declined materially but was outweighed by gains in other mold groups.
